Back in the Swing of Things
I took a bit of a writing break after getting The Vile Realm onto Amazon. 2020 was a tough year for pretty much everyone and, for my part, I am amazed that I even finished a book! What was more surprising still was the reception that The Vile Realm has seen so far! It's very humbling to find that even one person enjoyed reading my work, but the good words have come in faster for this entry in my series than any other book so far.
My break took form in a few ways. I took the time to welcome a new puppy into our house (a tri-colour Border Collie named Skye), did a lot of walking around my local loch (and took thousands of photos), and I started some more or less unknown assassin-based game where you play as a viking...

Now, I knew that this game was big but I wasn't quite ready for just how big. Me being me, I couldn't start something else (like a new book) until I had finished it as I am terrible at coming back to anything after breaking off from it. So, 90hrs of game later and I had finally wafted the breath of my last target away. Off went the PS4 and up came a fresh Word document (yes, I write my books in Word, a few people seem to think that is archaic *shrug*). My growing fears that getting back into the flow of writing would be a tough road are so far unfounded. The words just spilled out like the fresh guts of Marigold's latest victim. Somewhat appropriate for a book entitled The Dead and the Rotten...
So, I continue to be poor at maintaining this site and updating the blog. I do (at least) think about the site often and how good and useful I could make it. For now, I am back hard at work on the latest entry into Marigold's tales!
